DAHLONEGA GOLD HALF EAGLE. MINTAGE 47,465 HOWEVER THE 1848-D IS SCARCE in any grade and VERY RARE IN HIGH GRADES! Full strike no flatness of obverse stars, sharp date and mint mark, and all letters bold. PCGS has only graded 12 in this grade and only 1 by PCGS & NGC HAS A "CAC" CERTIFICATION. Much scarcer date from Dahlonega than thought. EXCEPTIONAL EYE APPEAL! ALL ORIGINAL SURFACE COLORATION.

MINTAGE 62,710 Usually seen in Very Fine and Extremely Fine grades. Rare in any grade above AU50 and extremely rare in Mint State. The 1851-D is one of the more poorly struck Dahlonega half eagles from the 1850's. Most are very weakly struck on the curls around the face and below the ear. STRONG DATE AND MINT MARK. MINTAGE: 914,584 WITH TOTAL KNOWN ONLY 200-250+ Among the more common of any Dahlonega half eagle with the second highest mintage figure. However, it is much more difficult to fine in higher grades. Most are weakly struck at the borders and show peculiar beveled edges which indicate poorly matched edge collars. Obverse is softly impressed with details in the center but the curl below the ear having some flatness. Stars are well defined. Rich orange gold coloration. Surfaces have numerous marks but do not distract from the overall eye appeal. PCGS HAS ONLY CERTIFIED 15 IN THIS GRADE and only 214 in higher circulated grades. Only 9 have been certified by PCGS in MINT STATE GRADES. A POPULAR GOLD HALF EAGLE FROM THE DAHLONEGA GEORGIA MINT. WILL SHIP WITH A COPY OF THE "NEIGHBORHOOD MINT"
