Her right hand bears the olive branch of peace. Designed by Hermon A. MacNeil with the initial M located above and to the right of the date. THERE was a MODIFICAION IN 1917 to COVER LIBERTY S EXPOSED BREAST. THE REVERSE has a NEW ARRANGEMENT of the STARS, and the EAGLE is HIGHER.  MINTAGE: 954,057 A relatively low mintage date that is usually well struck. MS65 can be found by searching. The Act of May 12, 1833 authorized the government to accept silver bullion at the value of 50 cents per ounce in payment of war debts and to convert this bullion into silver dollars and subsidiary coins. Later it was man dated that the mints buy silver to coin into dollars. Later the market price of silver was raised to $ 1.2929 as a standard value for many years until the Treasury hold ings of silver equaled 1/3 the value of gold. This silver was used to produce the 1934 and 1935 Peace silver dollarsl. CIRCULATED GRADES are somewhat scarce and are usually found in VF20-AU58 grades. BRILLIANT FROSTY MINT LUSTER, HARDLY ANY SURFACE MARKS, ALL WHITE WITH EXCELLENT EYE APPEAL!

The came out on the market slowly and over a long period of time. Little attention was paid to the issue in numismatic circles. Circulated worn grades are sightly scarce now and usually EF and AU. In the 1950 s mixed bags of dollars abounded with these and others. SATINY FROSTY LUSTER, BOLD STRIKE WITH SOLID DETAILS, FEW A BRASIONS ON THE SURFACES. A FEW REVERSE MARKS ACTUALLY FROM THE PLANCHET. OVERALL AN ATTRACTIVE PEACE SILVER DOLLAR.
